Russ Borst has an extensive background and experience in the HVAC industry. He is currently past Chairman of the Board of Managers, Mechanical Service Contractors of America and has served on the MSCA Board for 6 years. Prior to that he chaired the MSCA Education Committee and has served on numerous task forces. He is Vice President Service for Hurst Mechanical in Belmont, Michigan. He manages and supervises the entire service department. His areas of expertise include HVAC service management, HVAC system design, temperature controls/DDC, project management and energy audits for commercial buildings, schools and churches. He is also president of Quad City Mechanical, a plumbing contractor in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. He received a BS in HVAC Engineering Technology from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI and serves as MSCA student chapter advisor to Ferris State. Mr. Borst is a LEED AP and has played a key role in MSCA this year in providing "green" programs to the membership. He was the presenter of a "Green Means Business" webinar and was instrumental in the development of MSCA's Model Green Preventative Maintenance Plan as well as the new RetroCommissioning and Energy Audit Guide for Mechanical Service Contractors. He also worked with the U.S. Green Building Council on the updated version of the LEED EB Operations and Maintenance Reference Manual.
