FMX Revisited: Munich Reinsurance America

The presentation will cover the strategies used as part of the Sustainability program at Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. that have the company on track to permanently cut energy use and costs by 80 percent by 2016. This presentation will be an advanced level, interactive discussion with the facts, figures, details, and lessons learned of different technologies, funding strategies, and paybacks. Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. started its sustainability program in 2006, with site improvements at its 28 year old 400,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Princeton, NJ. Since the program started, the changes to the site project have an Internal rate of Return of over 20 percent, and a positive impact on the 1,000 person company’s Income Statement averaging close to a million dollars per year. The presentation demonstrates value through the Simple ROI, Internal Rate of Return, Impact on Income Statement, and use of savings to fund future projects based on the actual costs and savings of the technologies and strategies used and offers suggestions (based on its experience) on how to potentially get through roadblocks for funding and culture change. The team was an honoree in the 2012 FMXcellence Recognition Program and in the 2014 Facility Maintenance Decisions Achievement Awards.
