Here Are the Keys to the Facilities...Now What?

Becoming a facility manager is not the career path most facility managers set out for. Most of those tasked with the responsibility do it as “other duties as assigned," which can lead to uncertainty for what is required of a facility manager and what tasks a facility manager should know quickly to be successful in the first year in the role. This session will provide an overview of the items and tasks a newly appointed facility managers should consider, review and identify to increase their chance of success during the first year in the position.

1. Discuss what actions should be taken during the first year of becoming a facility manager
2. Identify the pitfalls of not taking certain actions during the first year of becoming a facility manager
3. Learn how to decide what facility related issues should proactively be addressed in the year in the position
4. Explain other roles and responsibilities a facility manager will have to fulfill that are not traditionally a facility manager's role
