Moving O&M Costs Off Balance Sheets, While Increasing Value

Most budgets are not increasing at the rate of energy prices or new technology. Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) can help organizations in on-site utility infrastructure. Such help can come in the form of financial investment, data analytics, M&V, equipment upgrades, and compliance reporting. Energy services can provide daily savings, while taking over risks and costs of equipment operation. This presentation will include examples of energy services, O&M savings, and financial arrangements as well as a discussion of distributed energy resources, microgrids, energy efficiency, predictive maintenance planning, and corporate goals. Ways to leverage projects to get additional “wish list” items will be listed.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to incentivize energy service providers by aligning their risk with equipment performance, cost, resilience, and reliability in long term contracts
2. Identify the trade-offs of fixed and variable costs to O&M
3. Understand how microgrid and DERMS solutions provide deep data access of facility operations
4. Identify services within and outside the scope of available data to enhance facility operations, management, or business objectives
