Survivability of the FM: Utilizing Expertise Instead of Management, Direction and Control

The best value delivery system allows the FM – who is totally comfortable with hiring expert vendors and not using management, direction and control (MDC) with contracts – to replace MDC with the utilization of expertise. In the best value system, the FMs identify experts and ensure that the best value vendor, who is selected, is successful in increasing the value to the FM. The presentation will describe how a FM can guarantee the success of the best value vendor even though their procurement staff is not an expert in the service being delivered. The presentation will use an actual case study of how other FMs used best value on services and construction.
