The Internet of Buildings: A Technological Boon for Building Systems and Operations

The ever-increasing connectivity and automated exchange of data among building systems has given rise to the “Internet of Buildings.” Borne of the Internet of Things (IoT), the Internet of Buildings (IoB) is changing the way infrastructure operates, communicates and is controlled. IoB expands the role of technology design beyond IT, A/V and security systems and into emerging systems such as Power over Ethernet (PoE) lighting, network-based electrical control systems and mesh network MEP controls/sensors. This program will enable participants to understand the changes the IoB era will bring to facility operations, and how they can prepare to adapt.

1. Participants will understand what the Internet of Buildings means.
2. Participants will learn about the emerging systems that will be made possible by the Internet of Buildings.
3. Participants will understand the ways in which IoB will affect facility systems and operations.
4. Participants will learn how to assess their facility’s readiness and ability to adapt to the IoB era.
