The Real Meaning of Total Cost of Ownership

When building a project, do you find yourself backed against the budget wall and VE takes over? At what point in the process is your Cx agent involved, your CM, or your sustainability consultant? Are you spending enough on pre-construction? Thought about the added maintenance costs to your facilities budget or the increased energy costs over time? TCO evaluates all costs of a building (over its lifetime) during the design phase before a shovel goes in the ground. This session will provide attendees with best value strategies to reduce lifetime costs of managing and operating school facilities.

1. Evaluate the total cost of owning and operating facilities
2. Learn how to reduce costs of owning facilities while providing the best learning environment
3. State where to focus pre-construction dollars in order to get the best value
4. Review how to incorporate long-term sustainability into facilities planning and operations in an economical way
