BIM2FM: Leveraging BIM to Achieve High-Performance Facility Management

Have you ever been able to extract building equipment data from a Building Information Model—easily, efficiently, and completely—at project closeout? Isn't that the whole point of BIM? Learn how to specify, compile, validate, and receive from your design and construction teams the asset data you need to support high-performance facility management and operations and maintenance. This session explains how you can bridge the BIM2FM gap by specifying an electronic building information deliverable so that you receive information in a format compatible with your CAFM, CMMS, or IWMS systems without laborious, time-consuming, and error-prone manual data re-entry.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to express their facility information requirements in a technical specification.
2. Participants will be able to specify the contents of BIM deliverables to meet their FM information needs.
3. Participants will be able to compare traditional project submittal requirements with a Facility Information Specification.
4. Participants will be able to assess whether building information deliverable requirements of design and construction teams are being met.
