PACE Financing: Overcoming the Domino Effect of Comprehensive Building Upgrades

Comprehensive approaches to building upgrades can be likened to dominos falling: One element of an upgrade affects another, and can be delayed completely in favor of a piecemeal approach. While comprehensive upgrades undoubtedly save money in the long run, paying for them is the main obstacle. An emerging approach is the Property Assessed Clean Energy program, better known as PACE. This session provides an in-depth overview of the program and demonstrates how it can cover 100 percent of project costs to eliminate the domino effect of a comprehensive facility upgrade.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn about the limitations to piecemeal facility efficiency upgrades
2. Analyze the domino effect of existing building upgrade projects
3. Review PACE financing mechanisms to finance upgrades
4. Understand how to implement PACE for specific initiatives in your facility
