Environmental Health for Sustainable LEED Green Buildings

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) ensures design, optimization and resource efficiency for sustainable green buildings, both for residential and commercial purposes. However, environmental health relates to the comfort, safety and health of the occupants. Due to recent technological advancements, several factors have been identified that can influence building health and hygiene. Apart from various chemicals, many biological entities such as bio allergens, microbes and others are identified as some common obstacles in building planning, construction, maintenance and operations.

Learning Objectives:

1. Review an effective outline on LEED certification procedures
2. Identify challenges for maintaining the environmental health of green buildings
3. Understand the importance of design
4. Learn to improve their IAQ and maintain a green building.
