Modern Buildings - The Convergence of Physical and Digital Security, Smart Technologies and FM

Today's libraries are dynamic environments for learning, training and collaboration. Providing comfortable and safe spaces within your facilities to promote this environment has become a growing challenge. A few years ago, Gail Borden Public Library District merged Building Facilities, Security and Information Technology under the same department to provide synergies in addressing these challenges. We have successfully implemented automation and information technologies to monitor, administer and track our three buildings. Discover how we have maintained a 99% up-time in automation systems, while allowing staff to focus on serving the public.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn how to implement technologies on a budget to monitor your facilities.
2. Understand how to engage their their IT resources to work collectively in implementing tools and technologies.
3. Develop a series of best practices to apply when monitoring your facilities.
4. See how non-profit organizations can merge physical and informational security to provide safe buildings for customers.
