Coordinating Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm Maintenance

For facilities with fire sprinklers and fire alarms, the responsibility for inspection, testing and maintenance (ITM) of these systems falls to the owner or facility manager. The fire codes and standards detailing ITM requirements also mandate coordination of these functions when both systems are present. For the facility manager, trying to juggle these responsibilities can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. This seminar takes a look at those coordination requirements, identifies roles and responsibilities, and shares some best-practice tips from around the country.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify where the ITM requirements for fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems can be found
2. Explain the coordination needed to adequately inspect, test and maintain fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems including the record-keeping requirements and service provider qualifications
3. Recognize the role and responsibilities of the owner/facility manager in fire sprinkler and fire alarm ITM
4. Develop a plan that helps ensure the operational readiness of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems
