Data Centers: The Maintenance We Miss

It's not uncommon for data centers to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year maintaining vital equipment. A typical maintenance budget can run 1-3 percent of the initial capital investment for each year of operation, and this amount goes up as equipment ages. Maintenance is a necessary investment to achieve high levels of reliability, but curiously many corporations' maintenance budgets are underfunded, they don’t fund the maintenance of the skills and knowledge of the people.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify ways to balance maintenance/training spending to avoid human down-time error
2. Explain ways to encourage the right team behaviors
3. Justify budgeting to maximize reliability
4. Discuss how to ensure your mission critical team is up to task
