Protecting Your Facility from Power Failure

This session will provide an overview of the reasons for the increasing rate of utility power failures and the challenges facing facilities during power failures. Loss of electrical power has many implications: closing a facility for the duration, security issues, lost production, loss of perishable good, physical discomfort, etc. Many facilities are protected from costly power failures by emergency or back-up generator sets. The Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) will present important information to facility managers that have invested in, or are considering investing in, an emergency generator set.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify educational programs offered by EGSA
2. Understand the causes of the most common utility power failures
3. Compare and contrast emergency, standby and prime power
4. Gain knowledge of the various accessories required in a generator set system
