Equity in the Built Environment

 Back to Session List

About this session:

Diversity, equity and inclusion is no longer a box to tick. It’s becoming one of the defining factors for business bottom line. We know now healthy workplaces have a profound impact on people’s well-being, but how can we ensure this access is equitable? Commercial buildings can be a powerful vehicle to deliver on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI)’s new WELL Equity Rating empowers organizations to create places where everyone can feel welcome, seen and heard. From parental leave to accessible and inclusive spaces, the WELL Equity Rating provides organizations with actionable strategies to tackle the DEI challenges and cultivate a “people-first” approach to the workplace. Kimberly Lewis, who drove the development of the WELL Equity Rating, will speak to the two-year journey of building the tool, and its impact on the well-being of people in the built environment.
