Chilled Water System Control and Optimization

Central plants are one of the largest energy consumers within a building's HVAC system. Optimizing the operation of the plant is a critical component in managing a building's energy consumption. This presentation focuses on the current methods of control of the various components within a chiller plant including the chillers, pumps and cooling towers as well as the best methods of control to maximum energy efficiency. A strategy for total chilled water system optimization will also be discussed.

1. Discuss the various layouts of chilled water systems
2. Recognize the improper sequences of operation that cause inefficiency in a chilled water system
3. Learn methods to efficiently operate each of the parts of a chilled water system
4. Understand how to implement total chiller plant optimization
