About this session:
Facility leaders face a growing workforce challenge: trying to attract, retain, and keep productive a new generation of talent. Behind this challenge are seismic demographic and other shifts: Baby boomers are retiring, leaving vacancies in staffing and taking with them essential knowledge. It’s often tough to get younger people interested in facility management as a career option. For all facility staff, changing technology demands new skills to complement traditional ones. These are urgent issues today in some facility departments. But even if you are not currently in a staffing crunch, now is the time to act on these issues. Taking steps like a skills gap analysis for future staffing needs can prepare the department for changes to come. This session will explore practical steps that facility leaders can take now.
