NFMT 2019 Session

New Connectivity Solutions for Old Power, Space and Cooling Problems

View All Sessions

About this session:

Building managers are finding that passive optical LAN (POL) allows organizations to take a leap forward in reducing power, space and cooling needs that have been a part of IT needs for more than two decades. POL uses small fiber optic cables to transfer data from the data center to the end user without an electronic middleman. This technology eliminates the requirement for telecommunication closets and gives architects the freedom to reclaim space, reduce power consumption and eliminate the need for cooling in the mid-point.

1. Learn what passive optical LAN (POL) technology is and how it works
2. Discover the impact of POL on real estate and facilities
3. See examples of large and small organizations using POL
