About this session:

Presentation of the significant changes in the 2018 International Building Code. The focus of the presentation is non-structural in nature focusing on significant architectural, fire protection, life safety, and security related changes in the 2018 International Building Code (IBC). Attendees will learn where these changes are located in the IBC and the thought process behind the individual code changes. Adoption of the 2018 IBC throughout the USA is expected to begin in earnest starting later this year and will be the state and locally enforced building code for years to come.

1. Clarify the significant non-structural changes in the 2018 IBC and where they are located.
2. Identify code changes permitted by the 2018 IBC for use in developing code equivalencies to current building code requirements.
3. Understand that the 2018 International Building Code will become state and locally enforced through much of the USA in 2019.
4. Examine the new requirements for medical gas system and laboratories in higher education facilities, and that storage accessor y to other occupancies is no longer consideded a separate occupancy group.
