Survival of the FM Professional in the Information Age

The FM profession must change to survive in the age of information and automation. The movement of the FM profession must include becoming a part of organizational ownership, and simplicity. This will allow FMs to add “dominant value” which will lead to the minimization of decision making, reduction of costs, and an increase in organizational capability. The “FM of the Future” is a different paradigm from the traditional FM. It is leadership instead of management. It affects the entire supply chain by bringing efficiency, simplicity and transparency to an organization. FMs must learn the vocabulary and actions to adapt.
1. Review how to reduce organizational costs by up to 30% while increasing the value and quality of services received.
2. List how to use performance metrics to ensure buy-in at all levels of an organization.
3. State the new FM paradigm and how to increase their capability.
4. Describe how to increase their impact on their organization by minimizing the amount of information that they need to know.
