Building Automation Trends - Connected Everything

Building wide connectivity is no longer a vision for the far reaching future. Technology, the cloud, and the availability of low cost gateways and smart edge devices has made it possible for vendors in the Smart Building, Lighting, and previously non-BAS market players such as IT to join the connected building wave with products that can change facility automation today. There are however many challenges to connecting this diverse ecosystem of building wide equipment and assets. The complexity grows when exterior building systems such as security, lighting, and Eco-friendly utilities join the fray. We would like to explain these challenges and opportunities with our perspective of what this means to building owners and facility managers in the near future.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn the connected building wide offerings available today compared to the near future options for the BAS market
2. Gain a high level understanding of IOT technology, security, and standards for the connected building market.
3. Learn the challenges facing building wide connectivity and interoperability. To name a few, lack of IOT standards, IT support, and security.
4. Learn what building wide connectivity mean to building owners and facility managers.
