W4.04
While the events of 2020 were unprecedented and shall hopefully not be the new norm, one thing we can always expect is the unexpected. To prepare for such anomalous events, we must focus on the basics of facility management. While this may seem counterintuitive, consider the armed forces and how they train. They do not learn-on-the-fly in the midst of the battle; rather, they prepare day-after-day, hardening their skills, so that, when confronted by the enemy, the response is routine. With the warranted distraction of COVID and civil discord, it is imperative that we, as facility practitioners, get back to basics to help our teams successfully execute their jobs day-in, day-out. In this session, we will dive into core building blocks of a facility management program and discuss potential short-term wins and long-term strategic objectives. Let’s refocus and make 2020 hindsight.
1. Identify Key Components of a Robust Facility Management Program
2. List Steps to Set a Strategic Direction
3. Discuss Elements of an Emergency Preparedness Program
4. List High-Level Steps to Developing O&M Program
