This presentation will provide an overview of the Building and Fire Code considerations related to shutdown and reopening during the COVID pandemic. General topics will include control of people movement for regulated entry/exit and social distancing, inspection/testing/maintenance of building systems prior to reopening, code considerations for changes of building use and the impact of hazardous materials related to COVID cleanup and treatment. The seminar will center around fire protection and life safety requirements found in the model building and fire codes and how to navigate them from a facilities standpoint during reopening.
1. Check those exits! What impacts does the building code egress requirements have on controlled entry and exit?
2. ITM restart - Overview of ITM requirements for fire alarm, fire protection systems.
3. COVID's Hazardous consequences - What does the fire code say about the introduction of hazardous materials into buildings during the pandemic?
4. Change of use - The code ramifications of changes of use such as introduction of clinics and temporary care facilities related to COVID.
